A fire on Saturday night destroyed the Mid-Station Lodge at Whiteface Mountain Ski Area in New York. Staff working at the Mid-Station raised the alarm at about 9 pm.

The Wilmington, Jay and Upper Jay volunteer fire departments all responded, as well as the New York State Police who secured the scene. The resort used snowcats to transport firefighters up to the blaze.

The building was totally destroyed, burning down to its frame. Reports on Saturday evening claimed the fire appeared to be spreading to surrounding areas. Nobody was injured.

The Mid-Station housed two restaurants, including Boule’s Bistro on the lower level and is located between the Lower Valley and Upper Valley runs. The resort continued snowmaking operations while the lodge burned and opened as expected the following day.

“Whiteface will be at full operations tomorrow,” Lundin said. “I don’t anticipate this will impact our operations at all.”
