Anyone in the market to buy a ski resort should check out Gruvbacken in Huså. Göran Folkesson has owned the resort for the last 25 years. The 75-year-old has a great passion for the sport but has been trying to sell the resort for the previous two years, hoping that someone younger with new ideas can propel it into the future.

The cost is five million Swedish Krona, just under $500,000. The price includes the slopes, a restaurant, a service building, and other resort assets.

The resort is known for its powder skiing, low crowds, and has a single lift to access its seven runs and forested terrain. Although the resort has grooming equipment, it can often miss the mark on quality and is known for having the best off-piste skiing in Sweden. Huså is located on the northern side of Mount Åreskutan and is often considered “the other side of the mountain,” this is a good thing. The area is a paradise when a big storm rolls through, especially since many surrounding ski areas tend to close.

Opportunities to own ski resorts don’t just come up every day. If you don’t mind owning in the land of IKEA, Volvo, and the northern lights, then this is a chance you won’t want to pass on.
