Keystone Resort, CO, has beaten its previous record for the latest date ever snow tubed into the summer. The previous record was August 6, but this year, thanks to the incredible work its teams have done to preserve snow, the hill is still going strong with a goal to keep snow tubing as late as Labor Day.
Summer snow tubing is one of Keystone’s staples, but the work needed to create and maintain the tubing hill through the summer starts at the end of the ski season. When Keystone’s World’s Largest Mountaintop Snow Fort closes for the season, its teams preserve and repurpose the leftover snow to rebuild the winter tubing lanes for the summer.
Thanks to the team’s efforts and the high elevation of the tubing hill (over 11,600 feet high), Keystone has kept a little taste of winter going all summer.
