Ughโ€ฆ  Mono County Tourism was incorrect about Sonora Pass opening tomorrow.  

Sonora Pass wonโ€™t actually open until Wednesday, May 18th.

Mono County Tourism is reporting that 9,624โ€ฒ Sonora Pass (hwy 108) in CA will open this Friday, May 13th at noon.  We arenโ€™t sure if this opening is just from east to pass or all the way through.  The backcountry skiing and riding off Sonora Pass is world class.

9,943โ€ฒ Tioga Pass, CA will be opening tomorrow, May 12th, at noon from the east only.

There are rumors that 8,730โ€ฒ Ebbetts Pass (hwy 4) will open this Friday the 13th at noon, as well.  

Monitor Pass (hwy 89) is already open.

  1. I called and spoke to CalTrans folks in Long Barn and Sonora Junction.

    Eastern Sierra Tourism has updated thier Facebook post.

  2. Heard from CalTrans a few minutes ago that 108 will not be opening until next Wednesday, May 18 due to a bridge project on the Mono County side.
