Everyone likes hitting their hometown mountain resorts throughout the ski season, but we all have that one big trip that we love to take each year. According to the National Ski Areas Association, the region that received the most skier visits last season was the Rocky Mountains. Driving to the Rockies is not an option for people living on the East Coast due to how long it would take to get there. Even driving from Los Angeles to Vail is over a 14-hour-long trip. So it will be welcome news to those living further from the Rockies to hear that Delta has announced plans for this upcoming winter ski schedule that may make that dream ski trip a reality for some.

According to Delta, the airline plans to boost its seating capacity by 10% in its most expansive winter ski schedule yet. If you live in Los Angeles, Minneapolis, Atlanta, and Salt Lake City, you will have easy access to popular resorts like Vail, Steamboat, Jackson Hole, and more. All of these ski routes will operate from December 21, 2024, through March 30, 2025. Frequency adjustments may be made in various markets after January 5, 2025, as the season continues, Delta stated on its website.

“Delta is creating essential connections from our growing hub and state-of-the-art facilities in Los Angeles and across the U.S. to bring premier ski resorts within easy reach this winter,” said Joe Esposito, Delta’s Senior Vice President of Network Planning. “With our latest winter schedule, customers have more choices than ever, with up to 190 weekly flights to places our customers want to fly to most, paired with the premium services and amenities our customers always enjoy.”

Delta’s ski schedule out of LAX this winter will boast a 25% increase in seat capacity. In addition to offering daily flights to Jackson Hole and year-round Aspen service, Delta is also bringing back daily flights to Bozeman (BZN) and Vail (EGE) and a new Saturday service to the stunning Sun Valley, Idaho.

Delta has a state-of-the-art Sky Way at LAX that ensures a seamless journey from start to finish. Terminal 3 is a 1.2-million-square-foot, 27-gate complex that redefines travel convenience with a centralized check-in lobby, expanded security checkpoint, and an award-winning Delta Sky Club. Delta One customers benefit from an exclusive check-in area, private TSA screening lane, and direct access to the Delta Sky Club. Additionally, eligible customers can use Delta Digital ID at LAX for hands-free bag check and security.

Delta is also offering flights for people who live in the Twin Cities the opportunity to hit the slopes when the airline resumes service to Steamboat Springs, Colorado (HDN) and Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Both will operate daily during the holiday period, expanding from Saturday-only service in 2023.

Delta Sky Club customers traveling through MSP can enjoy time relaxing and recharging at the airline’s third Club, which opened its doors in spring 2023. This added more than 21,000 square feet of premium space to Delta’s lounge portfolio, making it by far the largest at Delta’s Minneapolis hub.

From Atlanta (ATL) and Salt Lake City (SLC)

Delta’s largest hub, ATL, will now have more opportunities to explore Bozeman as the airline boosts service with a second daily frequency. Delta already offers daily flights from Atlanta to a roster of other snowy paradises this winter: Aspen, Vail, Steamboat Springs, Montrose/Telluride, Colorado (MTJ), and Jackson Hole.

In SLC, Delta’s daily flights to Bozeman, Jackson Hole, and Sun Valley are the ticket to some of the most breathtaking slopes in the country. Delta’s presence at SLC has grown significantly in recent years, highlighted by the launch of a 900,000-square-foot Concourse A in 2020. The concourse now features 19 new restaurants and shops, along with 50 Delta gates, with more coming by 2027.

Eligible customers can also kick off their journey with scenic mountain views at the Delta Sky Club in Salt Lake City. This expansive 28,000-square-foot lounge features a covered open-air Sky Deck with stunning vistas of the Wasatch Range and a 360-degree fireplace at its center.

Delta also flies to several other global destinations renowned for winter activities. Those destinations are Munich in Germany (MUC), Tokyo in Japan (TYO), and Zurich in Switzerland (ZRH) which all fly out of Philadelphia, PA (PHL). It is the time of the year when we most of us have put our skies away for the season. However, this is a great time to start planning the next great ski trip next season.
