The forecast big storm that was upgraded twice rolled through Lake Tahoe last night and did not disappoint.ย ย ย
This storm hit the west slope hard, dropped around 9″ on the Sierra Crest, then picked up Lake-Effect Snow and clobbered the east side of the lake.ย Mt. Rose got more snow than Squaw…
Oh, and Mammoth got 20-36″ in the past 48 hours…
Reno got just about as much snow as Squaw…ย NOAA’s Reno office reported 8″ of snow last night and they were forecast to get up to 4 more inches by morning…ย It was all Lake Effect Snow.ย Cool.
“**Another Lake Effect band is forming across Lake Tahoe with the band beginning to stretch across Carson City. Heavy snowfall rates of 2-3″/hour are possible!” – NOAA Reno, NV last night
Itโs game on in Tahoe right now with Mt. Rose and Boreal currently open.ย ย Alpine Meadows will open on Thursday and Squaw will open on Saturday.ย Northstar and Heavenly will open this weekend.ย Kirkwood will open this weekend with the most terrain open in Lake Tahoe and the only expert terrain Tahoe.
By this weekend, we will have at least 7 ski resorts open in Lake Tahoe.
