SnowBrains has learned that Las Lenas will close this year on September 8th, 6 weeks earlier than their normal closing date of mid-October. ย Last year, 2013, Las Lenas closed 4 weeks early on September 14th. ย Las Lenas hasn’t truly had a good season since 2008. ย This is sad because Las Lenas has some of the best terrain in the Southern Hemisphere.
There is a potent caveat however:
“if it snows a lot next week end, they might extend.”
The forecast is for big snow in Las Lenas next week. ย Maybe they’ll get enough to stay open another week? ย We hope so.
Las Lenas sits at the same latitude as Los Angeles, which we suspect is part of the recent lack of snowย problem.ย Las Lenas may be too far North.
Lenas got some big snow in June before opening and that was about it. ย Since those June snowfalls there have been a couple decent storms but nothing big and hearty.
