Las Leñas ski resort in Argentina just got 70 cms (28 inches) last Saturday and Sunday. On Tuesday the Marte opened and this video was made. Matthias hardly crosses a track the entire video. Las Leñas hasn’t had the best year until recently so no one is there. The few that are are harvesting Big. It looks lonely out there…
“Las Leñas is going off right now!!! Another 70cm up high refreshed everything, it might be even better than after the last storm. Marte was closed today dued to high winds and avalanche control. Thanks a ton to the Las Leñas pisteros here, those guys worked their ass off the last few days and did an awsome job. So today was another day of lapping Cenidor and the Volcano area what got people super stoked for tomorrow. We all hope for Marte chair opening tomorrow, we prepare for another best day of our lifes!!!” – Matthias Weishcelbaumer, Monday, August 12th, 2013
“After an incredible week it’s getting really warm again. Temperatures in the valley went up to 15 (60F) degrees yesterday, freezing level was over 4000 meters. We should get good corn, what is still a lot of fun. There is still powder on south aspects in the higher hike-to-terrain. Overall it’s still really good, the terrain is just endless so there is a lot to do left. Las Leñas also celebrates its 30th anniversary this weekend, so even if conditions turn bad, at least we can enjoy free beers all day...” – Matthias Weishelbaumer, Today, August 16th, 2013
Long lines. Better than office.
There really isn’t anyone there…
Yeah, Matthias, you’re fired up!
