NOAA: Winter Storm Warning for Montana Today | Up to 15″ of Snow Forecast

NOAA has issued both Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories for nearly every mountain in Montana for today, tomorrow, and Wednesday.ย  The leftovers of the atmospheric river that clobbered Washington state over the weekend will be clobbering Montana the next 72 hours.

The mountains of Montana are forecast to see 8-15″ of snowfall from this system.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...3 TO 5 INCHES OF SNOW IN THE VALLEYS AND
  IN THE MOUNTAINS 8 TO 15 INCHES.

Snow levels will start out at 6,000-feet today before dropping to valley floors tomorrow morning.

* SNOW LEVEL...6000 FEET THIS EVENING LOWERING TO VALLEY FLOORS

  OVER MOUNTAIN PASSES WHERE ROADWAYS WILL BECOME SNOW COVERED AND
  ICY BY TUESDAY MORNING. AT LOWER ELEVATIONS...RAIN CHANGING TO
  SNOW WILL CREATE SLUSHY ROADWAYS TUESDAY WITH COLDER
  TEMPERATURES TUESDAY NIGHT ALLOWING FOR SOME ACCUMULATION AT ALL
  ELEVATIONS.

* WINDS...NORTH 10 TO 15 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 25 MPH.

* HAZARD ELEVATION...HEAVY SNOW ACCUMULATIONS AND HAZARDOUS TRAVEL
  CONDITIONS WILL PRIMARILY BE FOCUSED AT ELEVATIONS ABOVE 6000
