It appears that they changed the original 1991 Point Break movie a lot. Mainly, the “ex-presidents” aren’t just thieves showing people that “the human spirit is still alive” but modern day Robin Hoods, robbing from the rich and giving to the poor. Cool.
Another big change is that these “ex-presidents” are not just surfers this time. This time they are “extreme athletes” excelling in BASE Jumping, Wingsuit Flying, Big Wave Surfing, Snowboarding, Rock Climbing, and more.
Point Break is one of the best cult surf movies of all time. Will the new Point Break measure up? Maybe. But, the guys in the new Point Break aren’t as good looking as the original guys and none of them are Patrick Swayze nor Keanu Reeves nor Gary Busey nor Flea nor Anthony Kiedis, so, we’ll see…
Our buddy from Squaw, Ralph Backstrom, is one of the snowboard stunt doubles in this new Point Break movie.
Like a lot of these movies lately, it looks like it will look good and be shot well but lack any substance.
Looks decent, I will watch it. But seriously, has Hollywood lost all ability to make a film that’s not a remake or trilogy or spinoff? I swear I can come up with a plot for a movie while taking a shit. The original PointBreak though is still a movie I watch, new one better live up.
