There were times throughout this winter when Idaho, Montana, Colorado and Wyoming held above average snowpacks but as of April 1st, all of the Western US is experiencing below average snowpacks.
Some locations are really hurting in the snowpack department. ย This map is showing Lake Tahoe at 2% of average, the Wasatch UT at 37%, Central Oregon at 10%, Northern Washington at 5%.
The best snowpacks in the Western US’s ski country appear to be in western Wyoming and western Montana.
What’s scary is that it’s only April 2nd. ย Normally, we’ just be seeing our snowpacks at around their deepest point of the season.
It’s been a rough year and I know first hand that many of us are ready to move on and hope for a big winter next year.
