Two people were shot dead at Whistler Mountain Resort, BC, yesterday afternoon.ย RCMP has arrested a number of suspects.
The incident happened behind the Sundial and Pan Pacific Hotels near Skier’s Plaza, close to the base of Whistler Mountain. Police were called to the scene at 12:20 pm and arrived to find one man deceased and another in distress. Efforts were unsuccessfully made to preserve the man’s life and he died later in hospital.
The victims were later named Satindera Gill and Meninder Dhaliwal, members of theย Lower Mainland-based Brothers Keepers gang. Both were known to police who saidย the shooting appeared to be gang-related.

Guests hid within nearby businesses after reports of the shooting spread on social media.
Two suspects were later arrested on Highway 99, near Squamish after the police pulled over a vehicle, and further arrests have since been made.ย Aย burning vehicle believed to be associated with the shooting was located nearby in the Blueberry neighborhood.

The resort was closed immediately and was closed for the remainder of the day. The resort tweeted that an “incident” in the village prompted it to put the Fitzsimmons Express chairlift and the Whistler Village Gondola on standby Sunday afternoon. Operations were temporarily resumed at 3 pm to allow guests to download and leave safely.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team will be taking over the investigation, with assistance fromย British Columbia’s anti-gang agency, the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit, and others.
