Ski season is just around the corner, but it does not mean that there are not other things to do on the mountain until then. Autumn is known for its vibrant foliage and it also brings that excitement of the approaching ski season. The Northeast is a great place to check out the mountains and the beautiful colors of the leaves on trees.ย Below are details on signature fall events coming up across Northeast ski resorts.

  • Hunter Mountain, NY โ€“ย Oktoberfest,ย September 28-29; October 5-6; October 12-13. Hunter Mountain is the best place to say โ€œProstโ€ this fall, with its bright foliage, scenic lift rides, 4×4 driving tours to the summit, and festive Oktoberfest events. For three weekends this Autumn, Hunter Mountain transforms into a joyous Oktoberfest celebration.   • Mount Snow, VT โ€“ย 26th Annual Oktoberfest, October 5 & 12.ย Complete with a keg toss, Craft Fair, andย traditional German bier halls, weโ€™re going big this fall hosting two weekends of Oktoberfest and our annual Stein Holding competition will be a preliminary qualifying round of the Vermont State Steinholding Championships!ย ย 
  • Mount Sunapee, NH โ€“ย Sunapee Fall Bash and 8th Annual Duck Drop, October 5.ย The Duck Drop, presented by Northcape Design, will see thousands of rubber ducks plummeting from the Sunapee Express Chairlift into sponsored targets. Attendees can win exciting prizes while supporting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central New Hampshire. The fun doesnโ€™t stop there! Kick off the fall season with the Fall Bash on Flyway immediately following the event.ย 
  • Attitash Mountain, NH โ€“ย Oktoberfest, October 12.ย Oktoberfest returns to Attitash! Featuring a wide variety of activities for kids and adults, join us for a weekend of traditional Polka music from the world-renowned Eastern Sound Orchestra, authentic German fare, and more.
  • Okemo Mountain Resort, VT โ€“ย Fall into Winter Festival, October 13.ย In all of its fall foliage splendor, Okemoโ€™s Jackson Gore courtyard will host family-friendly activities including hayrides, face painting, live music, and more.
  • Stowe Mountain Resort, VT โ€“ย Gondola Skyrideย through October 20.ย Fallโ€™s color capital comes alive during autumn as vibrant colors adorn the hills and countryside. Experience natureโ€™s colorful bounty in the #1 “Top 10 Foliage Destinations in the U.S.” by TripAdvisor when you ascend Vermontโ€™s highest peak, Mount Mansfield, in the iconic red Stowe gondola.ย ย

The best time to plan for winter is now, and your checklist to prepare for the ski and ride season is here. Skiers and riders who start planning now will lock in the best deals and experiences. Skiers and riders have until September 2 to purchase an Epic Pass before prices increase.ย Epic Passes offer significant pre-season savings compared to lift ticket prices and, whether you plan to ski or ride just one day or all season long, there is a Pass option for everyone.

  • Epic Day Passย (as low as $44-$73 per day) offers skiers and riders the ability to build their own Pass โ€“ choosing 1-7 days to use throughout the season. Epic Day Passes provide up to 65% savings compared to lift ticket prices.
