Snow, Dirt, Crashes, and Absolute Insanity At The Megavalanche DH Marathon

Even if you ride your bike on some crazy stuff, this video from Megavalanche is sure to catch your attention! Snow, rocks, massive pileups – Megavalanche in Alpe D’Huez has it all. Run every year since 1995, it’s a mass start with thousands of riders descending 2600 meters in the longest and undoubtedly gnarliest downhill bike race in the world.

Riding on snow without fat tires can be pretty challenging. I’m amazed at how fast these guys are going and able to keep it together…for the most part.

I’ve done my fare share of mountain bike racing, but this is next level stuff. How about that crash at 2:30! Wonder how many people end the race in the emergency room?
