Alpine & Freeride Events Take the Stage at Olympic Authority Venues, NY

With the ski and snowboard season picking up momentum at Whiteface, Belleayre, and Gore Mountains, racers and riders have a full slate of competitive events taking place. With different sized events and levels of competition for a wide variety of age groups, these events create a significant impact for the surrounding communities in the Adirondacks and Catskills and provide guests with the opportunity to spectate while they recreate.

Whiteface kicks off the month of February with the Empire State Winter Games (ESWG) on February 2-4, with alpine skiing races, adaptive alpine, freestyle moguls, and ski and snowboard cross on the docket. Gore will host the U.S. Collegiate Ski & Snowboard Association (USCSA) McBrine Division races the same weekend.

All three of the Olympic Regional Development Authority (‘Olympic Authority’) ski areas will host freeride events, highlighted by the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Holeshot Cross Tour stopping at Gore on February 19-23 and the Catskill Mountain Series Boardercross and Ski Cross events February 10-11 at Belleayre. Whiteface will host the USCSA National Championships from March 5 through March 9 and the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Championships (NYSPHSAA) on February 26-27.

The race event coordinators for each competition vary from event to event and include the Olympic Authority, New York Ski Education Foundation (NYSEF), New York State Ski Racing Association (NYSSRA), United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard (USCSA), U.S. Ski & Snowboard (USSS), and International Freeskiers Association (IFSA). Together in partnership, the Olympic Authority is providing competitive sport development and opportunities for athletes.
