Brought to you byย Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows
Report from January 31, 2021
I rolled up to Alpine Meadows ski resort in California yesterday at the crack of 1pm.
It was sunny, warm, and happy out.
Alpine Meadows got 75″ of snow in 3-days last week.
Liftlines were all about 5 minutes long except for Summit Chair which was still popular.
The groomers were good and kinda slushy in the sun.
North facing bump skiing was still wintery and fun.
I didn’t go into the powder but I’m guessing it was a bit funky and sticky.
It was all about the groomers and the mini-park for me.
What I was most affected by was the impressive hike-to terrain on the northwest end of the resort.
There was still lots of fresh snow up there…
Big, open lines, spines, noses, cliffs, and gullies.
It got my mind cranking…
I’ll likely be back after the storm this week for a mini-harvest…
SnowBrains meteorologist is calling for 6-14″ of snow above 7,000′ Monday – Wednesday.
