The United States Ski Mountaineering Association (USSMA or USA Skimo) is pleased to announce the appointment of Anthony Armstrong to serve in the newly-created position of Executive Director. In this capacity, Anthony will be responsible for leading USA Skimo as we prepare for the 2026 Winter Olympics and beyond.

Anthony is currently Vice Chairman of Investment Banking for Morgan Stanley. He brings to USA Skimo over three decades of executive leadership, having spent the majority of his career as one of the world’s foremost merger-and-acquisitions bankers. He also brings a love of the outdoors as an experienced backcountry skier, skimo racer, and nordic enthusiast.

“Ski Mountaineering is an incredible sport that combines both a long, rich history with unprecedented growth. With the inclusion of Ski Mountaineering in the 2026 Olympics and the rapid growth of our sport in the USA, USA Skimo will play a central role in supporting our athletes and continuing to work to expand recreational and racing opportunities for our community. USA Skimo has been serving the US ski mountaineering community for over 15 years. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to build on the substantial work that has come before me and to lead the organization through the next phase of its growth.”
