As the end of November approaches, Attitash Mountain Resort, New Hampshire, appears to be behind on the construction of its new flagship chairlift. With their winter season set to kick off in just a few weeks, it’s crunch time in Bartlett. Towers were installed just last week, and construction on the bottom terminal of the lift has only recently begun, though it appears that progress has been rather quick. Live progress can be seen on the Attitash Mountain Village Webcam.

The Mountaineer Quad is replacing the outdated Summit Triple, the only summit access to the Attitash Peak for years. The lift was constantly plagued with mechanical breakdowns, sometimes sitting idle for prolonged periods. This would constantly jam up other access lifts throughout the mountain, and skiers and riders throughout the Mount Washington Valley have been calling for a replacement for a long time. The issues predate Vail Resorts purchasing Attitash.

This lift upgrade is the second upgrade in two years performed at Attitash. Last year, the old East-West Double-Double was torn down, and a new lift, aptly named the Progression Quad, was installed. Similar to the Summit Triple, it was old and outdated and faced many mechanical issues throughout the winters leading to its eventual removal.

It is possible that the lift was not scheduled to be completed by opening day. Since Attitash has two separate peaks, they are capable of operating out of Bear Peak only, and leaving Attitash Peak closed until the lift is completed. However, this will certainly provide heavy skier traffic on one side of the mountain, which has just three lifts. Seeing as opening day is coming up, this is likely the plan, and hopefully, the new lift will be completed soon after opening.

Attitash Mountain Resorts’ Instagram has the most up-to-date information regarding the construction progress. Keep an eye out for updates as Opening Day approaches.
