Jackson Hole in January = Blue Skies & Deep Pow The Jackson Hole area received a small storm last week followed by blue skies allowing many Jackson riders and skiers to get in the higher alpine, and some of the more fun lines in the area. The moderate amount of snow received on top of the all ready deep base made for perfect alpine riding.Cody Peak and most everything off it got hammered in the first few days of blue skies, but thats kind of how it goes around here. Inbounds was riding great after the storm, but with the easy lift access it got hammered quickly. There are still plenty of shaded North facing stashes out there! Jackson gets it Again! Just when it looks like Jackson is getting out of the storm cycle they get it again. A week ago with a grim forecast it looked as if Jackson was going to get out of the weather flow that has been creating awesome conditions all winter. Then the blobs of moisture start to appear on the radar and get bigger and bigger, and where do they move to, Jackson of course. A warmer and dry start to the week was replaced by snow and made very excited skiers and snowboarders. Crusty, iced over, sun effected snow of early week became a glorious coat of a heavier dense snow over the weekend. The heavy wet snow was much needed to cover the havoc the sun and warm temps did to it. […] Conditions Report Cooper Kahlenberg | January 19, 2015 0 Comments
Fun in the Sun in Jackson! The past week started by ending a huge powder cycle that Jackson has been in the middle of. Overcast and snowy skies were replace by clear skies at higher elevation and a fog that lingered in the valley. The Sea of Dreams as it is known in these parts stayed with us most of the week with the exception of a few days where overcast skies prevailed. Snowfall over the last week was the lowest we have seen maybe since it started snowing for the season. That being said there is still some really good snow out there. Cold temps and small crowds have helped preserve the snowpack. North facing aspects are still holding very strong with minimal crust, and if you go looking for it there is still plenty of pow to be found on these aspects. After the last big storm Jackson locals and vistitors enjoyed blue skies and light snow, the coverage here is excellent and everyone is taking full advantage! DEEPcember in JACKSON HOLE! The snow at Jackson Hole has been absolutely ridiculous!! 66โ of snow has fallen since December 14th. Only one day during that period did not have measurable snow!! Saturday the 28th was the deepest day of the season, so far, and possibly being the deepest day in years! Snow! There is a lot of it, during this period we have seen varying densities of snow, starting out heavy and turning very light with colder temps. The heavier, higher moisture content snow that fell the previous week laid down an incredible base for the lighter density snow that has fallen over the past few days. JACKSON HOLE = EPIC POW Jackson Hole is having an epic season, and it just started! With multiple feet of snow over the last week on top on an already deep base, locals and visitors alike basked in the best snow Jackson has seen so far this season! Early last week conditions in the resort were interesting. Lack of snow and warm temps played there role in creating a mixed bag of conditions around all elevations and aspects. Jackson Hole is Holding Strong! Jackson Hole is holding steady with a deep early season base after a short warm up. It may have only snowed 7 inches in the last week, but short lines at any lift and low temps in the alpine have kept resort skiing incredibly well with those willing to hike for it finding deep snow!! After an incredible start in western Wyoming the snow machine started to slow this past week bringing warmer temps and less precipitation. Conditions in the resort area were contrasting greatly from top to bottom. Lower elevations generally being affected by warm temps and melt freeze action. At upper elevation temps stayed cooler and anything not hit by the sun stayed riding fantastic! Other […] Conditions Report Cooper Kahlenberg | December 15, 2014 0 Comments
