The Beartooth Highway will close for the winter tomorrow due to “continuing adverse weather conditions”.

Snow has been falling on Beartooth and they’re sick of clearing it.

The Beartooth Highway will open again in late May 2019.

The Beartooth Highway will completely close for the season tomorrow morning (October 5th, 2018), due to continuing adverse weather conditions. We’ll see you on the Beartooth again around Memorial Day weekend of 2019!
An alternate route for travelers going to Cooke City & Yellowstone Park NE entrance would be WYO Highway 296 (Chief Joseph Highway) to US 212 then west on 212 to Cooke City.
