California’s Boreal Mountain is opening for the 2021-22 winter season Friday, Oct. 29 at 10 am—three whole weeks ahead of schedule. This will be the earliest Boreal has opened in over a decade, mainly due to the 36-inches of snowfall Boreal received in the past seven days.
Lifts expected to open tomorrow are Castle Peak and Accelerator. Boreal Mountain shared in a blog post regarding its opening day tomorrow:
October 25, 2021 was a historical day for Boreal, with the ‘bomb cyclone’ dropping over 3 feet of snow. When the sun went down and the heavy rains turned into rapid snowfall, the excitement started building, and the Boreal Crew was ready to respond. With their combined skills and effort, multiple teams began working around the clock to get the property ready for action!
So, to answer your question, does this mean Boreal will open early? Yes! We are opening this Friday at 10am! Get your winter gear packed up, your boards and skis waxed, and your snow tires on, because it’s Go Time!
Winter is on in California!
