Dodge Ridge, who only opened on 27th January, closed on 3rd February and have yet to reopen.
China Peak, who opened on the 26th January, announced on 4th February they were closed until the weather delivers them snow.
Both resorts claimed they are victims of the high temperatures and limited natural snow.
Although both are closed right now, they are hopeful and positive that there will be some late-season snow and they will be able to get the lifts turning again. On their homepage, China Peak reminds us that in 1991, they hardly opened at all until March, but then received 20-feet of snow and stayed open through May! So it can happen…
Sad news for these resorts and their locals. We have our fingers crossed that the weather does indeed change, and California starts getting dumped on in March!
