Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC) Issuing Zone Avalanche Forecasts Starting Today

Starting today the CAIC is issuing zone avalanche forecasts for the winter season. 

Moderate (2of5) danger exists in the areas indicated by yellow on the map above. Low (1of5) danger exists in the green areas.

“Please check our weather and avalanche forecasts each day through the upcoming winter. If you travel in the backcountry, please submit an observation to let the forecasters and your backcountry community know what you see.” – CAIC

Expect weather forecasts for the mountains of Colorado twice daily by 6:00 am and 2:00 pm for the remainder of the season, according to the CAIC.

There has already been at least one person caught in an avalanche this season, so make sure you get the forecast every day before going into the mountains.
