After nine inches of snowfall overnight, it may seem early to announce the end of the season, but Copper Mountain, Colorado, has officially set its closing day for the 2024-25 season. The resort will close on Sunday, May 11, but skiers and riders can take solace because it will be the second-longest season on record, lasting 185 days. This surpasses last season’s total by three days and ties the 2024-25 season with the epic 1996-97 season—one of North America’s harshest winters, marked by blizzards, snowstorms, and flooding.

As of today, March 5, Copper Mountain has seen 272 inches of snowfall for the season and has a 75″ base. With another eight inches forecast for the next three days, it is shaping up to be an all-around great season at Copper.

Copper Mountain, located in Summit County, is a renowned ski destination offering terrain for all skill levels. Copper opened in 1972 and offers 2,538 acres of skiable terrain across 157 trails served by 24 lifts. The resort features a 2,738-foot vertical drop, with a base elevation of 9,712 feet and a summit elevation of 12,441 feet. It receives an average annual snowfall of 305 inches and is known for its naturally divided terrain, catering to all ability levels. While Copper does not offer night skiing, visitors can enjoy additional activities such as tubing. The resort is also part of the Ikon Pass, providing access to multiple destinations across North America.

Copper Mountain boasts a “Speed Center,” which provides training for international FIS ski racers. The Speed Center is typically open from early November until mid-December for U.S. National and International National Teams. Due to the length of the course and the vertical slope required, not many locations are suitable for downhill and super-g training and races.
