Sometimes a hot pizza after a day of skiing can be a magical experience, especially after a powder day. With roads covered in snow and subpar driving conditions, getting your piping-hot pizza delivered to your door can be a real challenge. Domino’s announced a $500,000 program to enhance winter road conditions for carryout pizza delivery. The company will distribute grants of $25,000 each to twenty selected cities or towns. This funding is specifically allocated for snow plowing, ensuring safer and more efficient routes for both their delivery drivers and customers.

“At Domino’s we’ve made delivery cars with warming ovens built in, paved roads to get your pizza home hot and in perfect condition, and offered pizza insurance for when anything goes awry,” said Joe Jordan, Domino’s president of U.S. and global services. “To us, nothing should stand in the way of getting a delicious pizza, including snowy, cold weather. So yes—you heard it right: a pizza company is actually helping to plow roads.”

To apply for a grant, customers can visit plowingforpizza.com and nominate their zip code. One nomination per email address is permitted throughout the nomination period, which runs from December 4, 2023, to January 21, 2024. To ensure that funds are given out over the winter, Domino’s will choose communities on a rolling basis throughout the program. The selected areas will be made public as early as mid-January.

So far this winter, Domino’s has collaborated with three different cities — Erie, PA; Marquette, MI; and Manhattan, MT — to support their plowing operations. In addition to money to pay for shoveling snow on cold days, twenty cities or towns that accept their award will also receive a winter-themed Domino’s Plowing for Pizza kit that includes vehicle magnets, winter hats, scarves, snow measuring sticks and signs, and other themed items. The Plowing for Pizza website will showcase the selected communities along with pictures and videos taken at the plowing locations.
