It was a snowy and befitting Alaska Day for Eaglecrest, AK a healthy reminder that rain at sea level means snow in the mountains.
The snow started falling again yesterday, and there’s now 5″ at the top of Ptarmigan Chairlift. They are off to a good start!

Eaglecrest, AK ended the season on March 19th with 362″ of snow. Had coronavirus not cut the season short, 2019-20 would have almost certainly have been a 400″ winter.
Eaglecrest has a ten-year average snowfall of 320″ annually, including a record season in 2011-12 with 640”.
When the snow is this deep, Eaglecrest is one of Alaska’s best-kept secrets with big mountain terrain, 1620′ vertical drop, 640+ acres, impressive backcountry access, untracked powder, and hardly a lift line. It’s a local’s only mountain located on Douglas Island, only a 15-minute drive from downtown Juneau, with panoramic ocean views from the summit!
