California’s Heavenly Mountain Resort is opening its winter season early, thanks to the generous help of fresh snow. The resort announced it will spin its lifts on Wednesday, November 20, two days ahead of schedule, following a 9-inch snowfall in the past week.
โIt has been such a privilege to work alongside this dedicated team as they have been working tirelessly ahead of our opening day. Thanks to them โ and some recent help from Mother Nature โ we can open for the season two days ahead of schedule.”
– Shaydar Edelmann, Vice President and General Manager of Heavenly Mountain Resort
The early opening will feature limited terrain on the California side of the mountain, with more expected to open as conditions allow. Snowmaking efforts continue around the clock, taking advantage of the cold temperatures to supplement the natural snowfall.
The resort adds new features for those eager to hit the slopes this season. The brand-new Golden State Kitchen at California Lodge promises to elevate the on-mountain dining experience, while the Rockstar Bar & Grill remains a go-to spot for aprรจs-ski relaxation.
Heavenly is also introducing “My Epic Gear,” a membership program that allows visitors to access high-quality equipment without the hassle of ownership. This service, available through the My Epic app, offers over 60 popular ski and snowboard models with convenient delivery options.
While the slopes open on the 20th, the iconic Heavenly Gondola will begin operations for sightseeing on November 22. The Ridge Rider Mountain Coaster at the gondola’s summit is slated to run throughout the Thanksgiving holiday, weather permitting.
With the early opening, Heavenly joins other Tahoe-area resorts in welcoming winter sports enthusiasts ahead of schedule. Palisades Tahoe, for instance, has announced a November 22 opening, five days earlier than initially planned.
