The outdoor retail and experiences company, evo, paved its way into the ski community as one of the first online retailers in the industry in 2001. Since then, evo has opened brick-and-mortar locations, created evoTrip Adventures, and recently spread its wings into the hotel industry. The first evo hotel, Campus Salt Lake, opened in 2022 in Salt Lake City, and now there are plans to open a second in Tahoe City, CA.

In an evo press release, Bryce Phillips, Founder and CEO of evo made this statement on the new hotel.

“Our aim is to provide a gathering place for the community, anchored in our shared love for the outdoors. We are really grateful to have this opportunity in Tahoe. It’s a place that is truly magnetic for us — so many great people and relationships from over the years, the beauty of the region, its culture — all intersect making this an especially exciting next step for evo.”

Like Campus Salt Lake, Campus Tahoe City will provide a place for the community to gather, bonded by a passion for the outdoors and the culture that surrounds the lifestyle. For example, the Campus Salt Lake location includes an evo store, All Together Skatepark, Salt Lake Bouldering Project, Level 9 Sports, and evo’s first evo Hotel. The specific details for Campus Tahoe City are yet to be released, but at the moment will include a café and bar, a service shop, vibrant community programming and events, and an art gallery space.

Cody Townsend, a Tahoe-local professional skier, weighed in on the matter in evo’s press release.

“I’m beyond stoked to welcome evo to Tahoe City because they have a strong history of not just building a store, but building a space for art, creativity, activity, and community. evo being a part of Tahoe City will be a key factor to the rebuilding and reinvigoration of North Lake Tahoe around the community that calls it home,”

While the campus has a target to open within the coming two years, evo’s Head of Marketing, Rebecca Heard, has confirmed that evo is excited to connect with the Tahoe community before the official opening. Heard plans to host an open house & social on September 15 to get a better understanding of the community’s needs. The Campus Tahoe City will be located across from Commons Beach in the historic Tahoe City Inn and America’s Best Value Inn, 790 and 455 North Lake Blvd., respectively.

The Salt Lake location has received great feedback, especially from those who utilize all the amenities. The Tahoe City location plans to do just that by creating an adventurous and tight-knit community in a legendary outdoor recreation area. evo is appealing to the crowd that wants to load their vacation with as many fun activities as possible while being surrounded by a passion-driven community. Access to an adventure house in a mountain town may just be the convincing some need for a weekend getaway.
