Liquid hot magma (hot lava) can range in temperature from 700-1200 °C (1,300-2,200 °F). Hot lava can pretty much do anything it wants and no one has yet attempted to create ‘lava containment systems’ per se. At least, Coca Cola hasn’t yet.
Photographer Bryan Lowry decided to see what would happen when a Coke met lava in Hawaii. The first can has a hole in it to keep it from exploding. The second can is au natural.
