German chancellor Angela Merkel broke her pelvis while cross-country skiing in Engadin, Switzerland on her Christmas vacation.  Her pelvis broke during a fall on her cross-country skis.

Angela initially thought she’s only suffered a bruise but x-rays revealed a fracture in her pelvis.

”She suffered serious bruising in connection with a partial fracture on her left posterior pelvic ring.  We understand she was going at slow speed on a cross-country ski course when the accident occurred.” – Steffen Seibert, German government spokesman

She’s expected to make a full recovery but will have to rest and heal for the next 3 weeks.  She can walk but can’t fly in planes and needs to rest as much as possible in the coming 3 weeks.
