Report from December 27, 2023

Landed in Tokyo last night and rented a car and drove five hours north to Hakuba.

Woke up to warm temperatures and melting snow, however, there was still about a foot or two on the ground around town.

Skied Hakuba 47 & Goryu and Happo One. Goryu was sunny above the clouds and had nice, soft snow up top. Down low the snow was starting to get wet and coverage was getting thinner.

Happo One was similar but clouds rolled in bringing visibility to about 20 feet. However, it made for some epic photos.

Up high, the snow is truly great. Mid mountain and lower are lacking. But considering it’s early in the season, it’s been great for Hakuba.
