A hunter in the US state of Arkansas has died after being gored by a deer he had just tried to kill.

Thomas Alexander, 66, was hunting near the Ozark mountains when he shot the buck and watched it collapse.

Assuming the animal was dead, Mr Alexander went to check on the body – at which point the deer stood back up and attacked him.

He managed to call his wife, who rang the emergency services, but he was declared dead later in hospital due to puncture wounds sustained from the deer’s antlers.

Keith Stephens, from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, told local media that Mr Alexander’s death was “one of the stranger things that’s happened” in his 20-year career.

  1. Warren,
I generally enjoy the content at Snowbrains as well. It’s a really great source for skiing and snowboarding topics. What gets tiresome is all the off topic filler and death reports. Maybe Miles should start another site named Outdoorsportsbrains? He painted this site into the box of SNOW, just google Snowbrains and read what you get: “The best source of intelligent snow ski & ride news, conditions updates, weather, photos, and videos we keep you in the snow.” With that said, what would you expect to find here? I understand Snowbrains broadening the topics, especially in the off season months. But the earth has snow year round and for us diehards, we live for the snow. Keep the articles on topic or create another site where you can cover ALL the topics in the outdoor industry. Forgive my rant, I come here to read about the Mountains! Mountains covered in SNOW and how we enjoy them. Not to see how many poor souls have lost their life in the mountains.

  2. Miles, most people think you are doing a heck of a job and appreciate it! If someone doesnt like what Snowbrains produces, I suggests they dont visit. Keep up the good work

  3. Snowbrains LOVES them some Death!
I always thought it was Sex that sells? I guess that in our current social state using Sex to get clicks would garnish a bunch of backlash. Snowbrains uses the next best substitute, Death. It’s a sad state when a Winter Snowsports blog has to rush to the latest obituary to find topics to post about. I suppose it’s a real easy way to get content. People die every day and Snowbrains is there to milk the clicks. It’s the state of online content, don’t go out and get original content. Scan the web for death and post about it often. Sad, really sad.

    1. Hey Mike, thanks for the comment. Our job is to report on the issues that affect our outdoor industry.

      Thanks,
      Miles

      1. ” Our job is to report on the issues that affect our outdoor industry. ”
Because hunting and snowsports are in the same industry. Bullshit! Come on Miles, look what you wrote. How does this man being killed by a deer have the slightest relationship to “our” industry?
