Hurricane Force Gusts Force Colorado Ski Areas to Close

Winds gusts over 100-mph forced the closure of several Colorado ski resorts yesterday.

Due to high winds, Loveland Ski Area will not open today, Tuesday, April 5.

Winds gusts are preventing us from safely operating our lifts, and they are expected to increase throughout the day. We apologize for any inconvenience and expect to resume operations tomorrow. pic.twitter.com/pBxbrQdMby

Loveland, Monarch, and Echo Mountain didn’t open at all, and Vail, Steamboat, and Arapahoe Basin all had lifts closed due to the winds.

All mountains are expected to open as normal today.
