Golden, Colorado—Icelantic Skis announces the official unveiling of the newly redesigned Nomad and Maiden Freeride ski collections for the 24/25 season. Recognizing the longstanding success of these beloved lines, Icelantic has undertaken its most extensive redesign yet to enhance performance and pay homage to their freeride roots. For the first time in 8 seasons, the Nomad and Maiden lines have received a comprehensive facelift, boasting innovative features to elevate the skiing experience.

The goal of this redesign was to create a much more lively ski, with added pop, playfulness, and rebound. Key enhancements include integrating four vertical strips of carbon above and below the core and doubling the camber underfoot to 4mm to enhance energy and responsiveness. Additionally, the new FLY-cap construction in the tip and tail reduces the amount of tip fill used and allows the poplar wood core and carbon to extend further toward the ends of the ski. This reduces swingweight and keeps the flex more consistent throughout the length of the ski. The ski’s shape has been modernized aesthetically and practically with slightly more symmetrical tips and tails to enhance a freeride ethos. Accompanied by a more progressive mount point, the new Nomad and Maiden skis boast enhanced freeride capabilities and predictability.

John Douthit, Director of Global Operations, was a key player in the development of the new skis. He says, “Instead of trying to fix something that wasn’t broken, we really just wanted to enhance a product that many people already loved. The goal was to maintain the approachable nature of the previous Nomad and Maiden series. We wanted to increase the overall excitability of the ski to cater to the more adept freeride-oriented skier looking to get creative with their ski style. We think we’ve done exactly that while honing in on widths we think this series will thrive in.”

The Nomad and Maiden Collections offer distinct new waist widths: Nomad 94, Nomad 100, Nomad 106, and Nomad 112. The Maiden Collection will offer the Maiden 94, Maiden 102, and Maiden 108.

In addition to performance upgrades, the Nomad and Maiden skis feature captivating artwork inspired by the Wild West. Dubbed “Into The West,” the artwork theme pays homage to the Wild West, highlighting some of the characters, landscape, and danger that makes the west a place of resilience and adventure, with illustrations created by Icelantic’s acclaimed artist and co-founder Travis Parr.

“Being our top selling collection with a cult-like following, there was some risk doing this redesign. I feel like we achieved our goal of making the skis more lively and fun while keeping the core characteristics of the Nomad and Maiden intact. I think this redesign will attract new customers to the Icelantic brand, while staying true to our current core customer,” says Icelantic Founder, Ben Anderson.

The Nomad and Maiden Freeride ski collections will be available online at www.icelanticskis.com on August 1, 2024 and at select retailers starting in Fall ‘24.
