Yep, it’s snowing in Lake Tahoe right now at 4pm PST on September 21st, 2013.
Snow levels are down to about 8,000 feet right now and should drop a bit tonight.
***Update: As of 4:15pm, it was snowing in the town of Truckee.***
We have confirmed snow at Mt. Rose highway, Tahoe Donner ski resort, Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, Donner Summit, Kirkwood, and Mt. Rose ski resort. We’re sure there’s lots more out there.
Tomorrow will be sunny and we’ll get even more confirmation of snow up high as it’ll be easy to photograph on a beautiful sunny day.
The forecast for Tahoe shows another storm with snow coming in next week on Tuesday and Wednesday.
NOAA said this at 4:48pm PST, September 21st, 2013:
...SNOW ACROSS MOUNTAIN PASSES IN THE SIERRA... A STRONG LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM IS BRINGING HEAVY RAIN AND SNOW TO THE SIERRA THIS AFTERNOON AND WILL CONTINUE THROUGH 8 PM AS A STRONG PRECIPITATION BAND PASSES THROUGH THE REGION. ACCUMULATIONS UP TO 2 INCHES ARE EXPECTED ABOVE 7500 FEET...WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS TO NEAR 6 INCHES POSSIBLE. SLUSHY ACCUMULATIONS ARE POSSIBLE ON THE ROADS AS LOW AS 7000 FEET. WEBCAMS INDICATE THAT DONNER PASS ON INTERSTATE 80 HAS A SLUSHY ACCUMULATION. OTHER PASSES THAT MAY HAVE ACCUMULATIONS INCLUDE MT ROSE SUMMIT...EBBETTS PASS...CARSON PASS...AND ECHO SUMMIT. DRIVERS ARE URGED TO SLOW DOWN AND LEAVE PLENTY OF ROOM FOR BRAKING AS ROADS MAY BE SLICK DUE TO RAIN AND SNOW.
So ready for this!!!!!!
