FIS SKI JUMPING WORLD CUP

The FIS Ski Jumping World Cup season is currently in its third of five periods, a section that is considered the Polish Tour with stops in Wisla (Jan. 13-14), Szczyrk (Jan. 17), and Zakopane (Jan. 20-21). Period IV opens in Willingen, Germany before heading to Lake Placid on Feb. 9-11, Sapporo, Japan on Feb. 17-18, and Oberstdorf, Germany on Feb. 23-25.

Austria’s Stefan Kraft leads the overall World Cup standings with 989 points, followed by Andreas Wellinger of Germany with 757 points and Ryoyu Kobayashi of Japan with 691 points.

LAST YEAR

Last year’s World Cup in Lake Placid was the first time a ski jumping World Cup had been held in the United States since 2004, and the event drew a large crowd of 15,000 spectators over three days of competition. Andreas Wellinger of Germany and Norway’s Halvor Egner Granerud, the 2022-23 overall World Cup points champion, were individual champions last year in Lake Placid, while the Polish duo of Piotr Zyla and Dawid Kubacki energized the crowd by winning the Super Team competition.
