Lake Tahoe Is About To Get Pounded With Snow | Up To 5 FEET at Lake Level

Lake Tahoe and the Eastern Sierras are about to get pounded with snow once again. Last week, they were hit by a storm that dropped 80+” of snow on the area.

This storm has already begun and is expected to last through Thursday morning. It is expected to dump up to 8 FEET of snow on the Lake Tahoe area above 7000 ft and up to 5 FEET at lake level.

As the flooding continues this week, heavy snowfall will persist in the mountains and at lower elevations.

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM PST
THURSDAY...

* TIMING: RAIN AND SNOW WILL TRANSITION TO ALL SNOW THIS MORNING
  WITH PERIODS OF HEAVY SNOW CONTINUING THROUGH WEDNESDAY NIGHT.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: 4 TO 8 FEET ABOVE 7000 FEET WITH 2 TO 5
  FEET AT LAKE TAHOE LEVEL.

* WINDS: SOUTHWEST 15 TO 25 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 45 MPH. SIERRA RIDGE
  GUSTS OVER 100 MPH. A PERIOD OF STRONGER WINDS TUESDAY AFTERNOON
  AND EVENING WITH GUSTS TO 60 MPH.

* SNOW LEVELS: BELOW LAKE LEVEL...BRIEFLY RISING TO AROUND 6500
  FEET TUESDAY AFTERNOON BEFORE FALLING AGAIN.

* IMPACTS: DANGEROUS CONDITIONS WILL EXIST FOR TRAVEL AND OUTDOOR
  ACTIVITIES WITH HEAVY SNOW ACCUMULATION ON ALL SIERRA PASSES.
  THE COMBINATION OF HEAVY SNOW AND GUSTY WIND MAY MAKE FOR
  WHITEOUT CONDITIONS WITH BLIZZARD CONDITIONS POSSIBLE TUESDAY
  AFTERNOON AND TUESDAY NIGHT.
