Former Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn is gearing up for knee replacement surgery, as she recently revealed during an Instagram Q&A. This is not her first experience under the knife; Vonn has undergone multiple knee surgeries since her 2019 retirement.
“I recently did a prep surgery for a knee replacement. Hope to have the next surgery this spring.”

She shared an update, featuring her surgically dressed knee and informed fans of her anticipated spring surgery date.
With 82 World Cup race wins, four World Cup overall championships, and Olympic medals, Vonn is the third winningest skier in history, behind Ingemar Stenmark (86) and Mikaela Shiffrin (88).
Having dealt with knee injuries throughout her career, Vonn officially announced her retirement on February 10th, 2019, as the injuries started to take their toll and impact her ability to compete.
“I’ve had four surgeries on my right knee. I’ve got no LCL (lateral collateral ligament) on my left knee. I’ve got two braces on. There’s only so much I can handle and I might have reached my maximum. I’m not sure. I’ve got to take a couple days’ time and really think about things.”

In January 2023 she became the first woman to ski the daunting Streif in Kitzbühel, Austria, and the first person ever to do it in the dark.
