Mammoth announced today that they will be extending their season indefinitely.  Mammoth was slated to close tomorrow, May 27th, 2013 but now they will be open for an indefinite additional amount of time.  On good years, Mammoth often stays open until July 4th and sometimes even into August…

Mammoth’s season extension comes on the heels of a cool, snow-preserving forecast.  And maybe they simply saw how much fun we were all having out there today… (May 26th conditions report)

“Haven’t had enough? OK, we’ll stay open a little bit longer just for you… Cooler weather and snow is in the forecast, so come on up and enjoy the last blast of winter! Starting Tuesday we will operate Chairs 1 and 3 and both gondolas. Stay tuned for our official closing date!” – Mammoth Mountain

This is huge news and now California will continue to have one ski resort that is still open.  It’s very impressive how much snow Mammoth still has considering how the last real storm cycle occurred in December 2012.
