The Margaritaville franchise, better known for its tropical ambiance, is venturing into the snowy landscape of Lake Tahoe with its first-ever ski property. As the only all-suite resort in the South Lake Tahoe basin, it is at the base of Heavenly Mountain Resort, steps away from the gondola. The resort, close to the pristine clear water of Lake Tahoe with access to many entertainment options and best-in-class outdoor adventures, is expected to open in winter 2023.

Steve Contos, Executive Vice President of Davidson Resorts, the third-party group managing the property, expressed excitement about sharing the iconic brand with one of the premier year-round adventure and ski destinations in the United States. He invites travelers to experience the escapism of Margaritaville in a new setting, whether they seek an action-packed vacation or a relaxing getaway. This resort hotel will be the fourth Margaritaville property in the western United States.

What sets this mountain-based Margaritaville apart is its ski-centric decor, catering to winter sports enthusiasts rather than beachgoers. The resort’s 399 spacious suites – boasting stunning views of the lake or mountains – showcase natural tones with pops of emerald green, seamlessly blending Margaritaville’s casual luxury with the natural aesthetic of Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

The resort will feature an emerald pool inspired by Lake Tahoe’s iconic Emerald Bay, shaped like a flip-flop, and ski paraphernalia in place of surfboards. Guests can enjoy an indoor pool and gather around the main fireplace in the lobby for après-ski relaxation.

The future Margaritaville will be situated at the current location of the Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel, which will undergo a comprehensive multi-million dollar, top-to-bottom renovation. The property boasts 399 suites, some with private fireplaces offering stunning lake or mountain views, making it an ideal year-round destination.
