The huge snowstorm that dumped record snow on Denver and the Front Range was also especially generous to Monarch Mountain.
Situated in the Sawatch range in the Rocky Mountains, Monarch is a little further south than the majority of Colorado’s well-known resorts, and got absolutely dumped on this weekend.
11″ on Saturday, and another 13″ on Sunday, made for a ‘fun and deep’ weekend and I’m sure there’ll be plenty of leftovers to be had throughout the rest of the week.
Monarch Mountain, one of Colorado’s oldest ski resorts, is a hidden gem that most people in the United States probably haven’t heard about. Yet. Nestled at the top of Monarch Pass near Salida, CO, it is next to some of the most incredible mountains Colorado has to offer. It provides incredible 100% natural snow (no snowmaking here), a wide array of terrain suited for any skier, and a genuine ski experience for soul skiing like skiing should be.
With a 5″ refill overnight, and snow in the forecast the next few days, right now might be the time to tick Monarch Mountain of your ‘must visit’ list…
