Utah based DPS has recently announced Phantom, a new technology that they predict will totally turn the tuning and waxing business on its head.

DPS describes it as ‘a permanent base glide treatment’. Developed in collaboration with a team of chemists and engineers from the University of Utah, Phantom is a base coating that you apply just once, lasts the entire life cycle of skis/snowboard yet still gives high performance.

With a single and permanent application, you get ultimate convenience (no waxing required), elite-level performance, substantial cost savings (no regular waxings), increased base durability, while saying no to the harmful chemical waste found in traditional ski and snowboard waxes.

Most importantly though, Phantom is environmentally friendly. Regular wax rubs off as you ride, releasing toxic chemicals into the watershed and damaging the environment. Phantom permeates the entire base of your device so remains there, and fresh, no matter how many times you ride.

I for one am super intrigued by this new technology. It’s an inconvenience to have to continuously wax my gear to get the best performance, and if I never have to do that again, then take me straight to the checkout!
