New Zealand’s south isle ski resorts just got 1 meter (40″) of snow.  Mt. Hutt got 120cms (48″)of snow and remained closed today due to avalanches, high winds, buried roads, and downed electric towers.  They’re hoping to be open tomorrow.

Coronet Peak and Cardrona are open today and the skiing looks damn good, especially for so early in the season.

Treble Cone got 65cms (26″) of snow and they’ll be opening up next Thursday.

Mt Hutt, NZ has gotten 36" of snow as of 12pm local time.

Ski season is off and running in New Zealand.  Having this much snowpack this early bodes well for a solid ski season in New Zealand this year.
