This air is called Goodwill’s. It’s on Granite Chief Peak at Palisades Tahoe and a double flip has never been done off of it. Why? Because it’s huge and scary and consequential.

Noah Gaffney, son of the late Robb Gaffney, legendary Palisades skier and author of Squallywood, has just double-backflipped it for what might be the first-ever double flip off of Goodwill’s, which appears in his father’s book as a “40 to 60-foot footer with a stackable landing.” The video on Noah’s Instagram of himself double-backflipping it is jaw-dropping to put it lightly.

“My first double backflip of the season! Decided to step it up yesterday and accomplish one of my goals I’ve had for years. The takeoff and conditions lined up just right to give it a go. After 3 goes at it I was able to put down the stomping gear. Stoked with how it all went yesterday!”  – Noah Gaffney on Instagram

What’s also astonishing is that this was Gaffney’s third attempt on Goodwill’s that day after straight airing it first. That means that he crashed it twice and then went back up and stomped it the third time. To get up, there is about a 20-minute hike, making for a lot of work to stomp the trick because by the time he landed the trick, Gaffney had hiked for 80 minutes already. His courage and determination to keep going back and hucking himself off a ginormous cliff was unwavering in achieving the stomp.

Robb would be proud.
