Nordic Valley Ski Resort in Weber County, Utah, was ravaged by a fire in the early hours of Monday morning, January 15, 2024. A worker noticed flames and smoke coming from the mountain lodge at the resort. Weber Fire District, Ogden City Fire, South Ogden City Fire, and Weber County Sheriff’s were dispatched to a structure fire at Nordic Valley. When they arrived, the lodge was engulfed in flames and smoke.

Due to buried hydrants, heavy wind, smoke, and freezing temperatures, battling the fire was challenging and demanding, causing the structure to burn through a wall and up through the roof. The combined crews battled the fire and finally managed to extinguish all flames. The Weber Fire District confirmed that nobody was inside the building at the time of the fire. At this point, the cause of the fire is unclear and is currently under investigation by the Weber Fire District with assistance from Ogden City Fire.

The structure in question is a mountain lodge referred to as ‘The Barn’, which houses the ticket office, a restaurant, restrooms, and a small retail shop. Due to the extent of the damage, the Nordic Valley Resort is closed until further notice. Mountain Operations is working hard to get back up and running but needs to find equipment to print and validate tickets.

“We are working as hard as we can to get back up and running to welcome guests back to the mountain and will update you all as information comes in.

For anyone who has purchased lift tickets, we will be issuing a credit to you. Please bear with us as we navigate to get our systems back up and running.”
