Knock-knock. It’s Old Man Winter. He’s arrived.

Snowmaking is officially underway at Crested Butte Mountain Resort. Mountain teams fired up the snow guns on Sunday night, three days ahead of schedule, thanks to a little help from Mother Nature. A whopping 19 inches of fresh snow dumped over the mountain last weekend, followed by temperatures cold enough to allow snowmaking.

Crested Butte is excited to report that it has brand-new air compressors for the 2023/24 winter season, allowing more efficient snowmaking operations. The resort will welcome guests for skiing and riding on Opening Day this November 22.
