Report from Sunday, February 18, 2024

We showed up to what appeared to be a wintry tornado.

Dad jumped out of the car into white.

It was snowing hard.

The snowstorm raged for about three hours.

At one point it must have been dumping three inches an hour of dense graupel.

The runs were empty today.

I think the intensity of the storm kept them away.

Classic Pow Mow.

While it was dumping cats and dogs up top and we could hardly, the bottom portion of Paradise had good vis.

That’s where we stayed.

It was cold as hell.

Paradise, timberline, Hidden Valley all skied superbly.

The refills were quick.

No reprieve from the storm was in sight.

Then, in what felt like a literal instant, it went blue.

The sun came out and revealed all the filled-in spots.

Clean slates.

I didn’t want to leave.

But it had been a good day.

Everything was caked in snow on the drive down the canyon.

The heat of the car felt nice.

So did I.

Thanks, Pow Mow.
