Today was another spring day, just like we’ve had all month. Firm in the morning and soft by 10am on east faces, 1pm for west faces. I expected the rain to come all day, but it never came. Other than that it was a fun spring conditions day at Squaw. I had the most fun on West Face in the afternoon. Oly Lady chairline was ripping once soft. Siberia Bowl and lower North Bowl were firm until 11am and then just kept getting better.
Headwall, Emigrant and Belmont were closed all day due to wind hold. It felt like a storm was coming all day, but it never actually arrived.Coverage is still damn good. After the big dump that is coming, coverage is really gonna be stellar.
– NOAA: “High Condfidence” in 2-4 Feet of Snow in SoCal & 1-3 Feet of Snow in NorCal by Monday –
Squaw’s snowpack is currently 58-115″ deep and they’ve gotten 183-324″.
It’s literally been spring skiing since February 1st – in a good way. It’s not been lousy, it’s been really fun. Follow the sun! Friday should be pretty mellow and Saturday should be really windy. NOAA is talking about 100mph winds on the ridge at Squaw.
