Killington Resort has announced a temporary closure due to sustained rain and warm temperatures that have significantly impacted the snowpack, according to a resort blog post published early Wednesday morning. The resort, which has logged 174 operating days so far this season, will remain closed through Friday, May 9, as staff work to preserve existing snow and prepare terrain for a weekend reopening.

โ€œThe constant rain and warm temps over the last several days have taken a serious toll on our snowpack,โ€ the resort wrote. โ€œTherefore, we will be closed today through Friday to preserve what we have left and to move snow around to make a more enjoyable ski/ride experience for everyone this weekend.โ€

Killington plans to resume operations Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with the Canyon Quad operating an extra hour until 5:00 p.m. The resort emphasized that terrain this weekend will be for advanced and expert skiers and riders only, and noted that additional rain in the forecast may affect progress.

The hike park on Upper Double Dipper is also currently closed. Staff will assess snow conditions over the coming days to determine if the setup can be rebuilt.

An update on potential operations beyond the weekend is expected soon. Until then, the resort is encouraging guests to โ€œsend positive vibesโ€ as grooming crews do what they can to extend the spring ski season.
