Plentiful snowfall has prompted RED Mountain Resort in British Columbia to advance its opening day to Saturday, December 7, a full week ahead of schedule. The decision follows the accumulation of 75 inches (190 centimeters) of snow and a 50 inch (128 centimeters) base, making November 2024 the second snowiest November on record at RED.
For the first week, operations will be limited:
- Open lifts: Red Chair, Silverlode, T-Bar, and Magic Carpet
- Operating hours: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Discounted lift tickets: $99 CAD for adults, with proportional reductions for other age categories
The resort aims for a full mountain opening on December 14, pending conditions.
During the initial week:
- Sourdough: Open 8 a.m.โ4 p.m. (weekends), 8 a.m.โ2 p.m. (weekdays)
- Rafters: Open 11 a.m.โ6 p.m. (weekends), 2 p.m.โ6 p.m. (weekdays)
- Snow School, Rentals, and Piste Off: Closed until December 14
- Free Shuttle Bus: Status for opening weekend to be determined
